Joe List: Small Ball
Neurotic, observational, and honest stand up from one of the best

Neurotic, observational, and honest stand up from one of the best
Small Ball is Joe List's hour on life's smaller moments, delivered with the sharp wit and understated charm his fans know well. We came on as co-producers and shot on location at two classic Chicago clubs, Zanies Rosemont and Zanies Old Town. Comedy specials are a big part of what we do, but this one had an unusual challenge: two shows, two venues, one special.

Joe wanted to preserve the distinct look and feel of the two venues in Chicago. Old Town has a classic dive feel and is one of the city’s oldest and most beloved club venues. Rosemont is more classy, newer, and skews suburbs. So we intentionally lit the venues in a way to lean into their respective vibes. The cooler colors and dramatics edges for Rosemont cuts really nicely with the red tones and flatter vintage look of Old Town. Even then, many people who watched the special didn’t notice the handoff, which is a testament to how captivating Joe is as a performer.

In a streaming world, Small Ball got a rare theatrical run, playing nationally in 27 theaters for one night only. Which means we got to go sit in a movie theatre and watch our work on a big screen, which is so rare for comedy specials! Audiences loved it, and the special is now streaming on YouTube and Amazon Prime. We're proud to have helped bring it to screens both big and small.
